Application for Residence in Trinidad and Tobago

In order to apply for residence in Trinidad and Tobago, an applicant must be:

• The spouse of a citizen or resident

• The parent of a citizen or resident

• A person who has been working in Trinidad & Tobago for a cumulative period of five years.

Such persons must be able to demonstrate by reason of their educational qualifications, training or special skills that they have sufficient means to support themselves and their immediate family in Trinidad & Tobago. In assessing the suitability of an application for residency, the Minister of National Security must be satisfied that the applicant:

• Has entered the country legally

• Is not in a prohibited class

• Is of good character as evidenced by a police certificate of character.

Documents Required

1. Two (2) Forms No. P & I-6 available at
   Ministry of National Security
   Knox Street
   Port of Spain, Trinidad
   and
   Immigration Office
   Scarborough, Tobago
   
2. Letter from applicant requesting permanent residence. Detailed information must be included, i.e., Date and Place of Birth, Date of Arrival, etc.
3. Birth Certificate of applicant and spouse with supporting affidavit where necessary. (Original and Copy).
4. Marriage Certificate. (Original and Copy).
5. Travel Document, i.e., Passports, Travel Permits, etc
6. Three (3) identical passport-sized photographs
7. Proof of Satisfactory Fulfilment of Income Tax Obligations. (Certificate "B").
8. Sworn affidavit in triplicate from spouse regarding Trinidad and Tobago Citizenship.
9. An official receipt for a Certificate Fee of $400.00 (Caricom Countries), or $1000.00 (Non-Caricom Countries) payable at the Ministry of National Security on approval of the application.
