About Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago is the located at the southern end of the Caribbean island chain, just off the coast of South America. The island is surrounded by the tranquil Caribbean Sea on its North Coast with the less calm Atlantic Ocean on its southern and western sides.

This twin-island paradise is about 21 miles apart, linked by regular air service and daily ferries and quite different from each other.

While Trinidad is extrovert, highly industrialized, lively, full of activity and energy, Tobago is introvert, more peaceful, calm, relaxing and caters to vacationers with wonderful clear water, white-sand beaches and fringing reefs.

The islands comprise of 1.3 million overall, with only 50,000 in Tobago. The language is English. The population is very mixed, descended mainly from Africa and India, but also from Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, even China and a few from the original Amerindian settlers.

Visiting the Islands

Visitors to the islands must have a valid passport and visas (if needed). Your passport must be valid for 3 months longer than your intended stay. You must also have tickets and documents for return or onward travel.

There are several major airlines serving Trinidad and Tobago. Among those are: LIAT and Caribbean Airlines which connects us to and the rest of the Caribbean and from North America, Delta Airlines and American Airlines. Connecting the island from Europe are Virgin Atlantic Airways, British Airways, Excel Airways, Martinair and Condor.

Safety First

As with every tourism destination keeping safe and healthy is piority. Always be aware of your surroundings, do not leave valuables unattended, do not travel at night alone, if in doubt about an area where you are staying, get advice from hotel staff or call your embassy. When travelling from the airport to your destination, use an accredited taxi. By staying healthy avoid direct exposure to the sun especially between 11am and 3pm. Use plenty of sunblock, wear a cap or hat and don’t stay in the sun for long periods. When buying street food, ensure that the vendor has a valid food badge.
