Applying for your Passport at the Consulate General for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in New York

  1. General Information
     

    1. A Trinidad and Tobago Passport is issued to citizens of Trinidad and Tobago only.

    2. First time applicants for the Machine Readable Passport must appear in person.

    3. The Consulate General has a WALK-IN system for passport application and renewal as well as all other immigration services.  An appointment is not required for passport application and renewal services.

    4. Nationals and visitors seeking passport and other immigration services can visit the Consulate General on any business day (except on Consulate General holidays) from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    5. Persons seeking immigration services will be attended to only when the relevant application form is completed correctly and accompanied with all supporting documentation and copies requested.
       

  2. Completing (filing out) Passport Application Forms
     

    1. Persons 16 years and over must complete the application form with the blue border when applying for a machine readable passport (MRP) for the first time.

    2. Persons 16 years and over must complete the application form with the green border if renewing a MRP.

    3. Persons under 16 years of age must complete the application form with the yellow border when applying for a MRP for the first time and when renewing the MRP.

    4. If a T series passport is lost/stolen/damaged or mutilated complete

      1. application forms with the brown border and blue border if you are over 16 years of age.

      2. application forms with the brown border and yellow border if you are under 16 years of age.

    5. If a MRP passport is lost/stolen/damaged or mutilated complete

      1. application forms with the brown border and green border if you are over 16 years of age

      2. application forms with the brown border and yellow border if you are under 16 years of age
         

  3. Obtaining Passport Application Forms
     

    1. Passport application forms can be downloaded from the Consulate's General website.

    2. Passport application forms can be requested via mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope measuring 81/2" x 14" to the Trinidad and Tobago Consulate General.

    3. Passport application forms can be collected from the Consulate's General office from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday (except on Consular holidays)
       

  4. Requirements when printing Passport Application Form from the Consulate's General website
     

    1. Print passport application forms on legal size paper only (8 1/2 inches by 14 inches).

    2. Print on both sides of each sheet of paper.

    3. Print application form in colour.

    4. Print application form on white paper.

    5. Use the following print settings in Adobe Acrobat:
       

      1. Page Scaling: None

      2. Auto Rotate and Center should be unchecked.
         

  5. Guidelines to completing (filling out) your passport application form:
     

    1. Applicant must complete information required on the form.

    2. The name entered on the application form must be the one the applicant wishes to appear in the passport.

    3. Applicants must affix signature in the box provided (signature must not touch the border).

    4. No correction fluid must be used on the application form.

    5. The application form must not be folded.

    6. Section 4 of the Application Form must be completed only if applicant does not have a previous passport or had a non machine readable passport which was lost.

    7. Section 4 of the Application Form must be signed by an eligible recommender (person with a valid Trinidad and Tobago ID).

    8. Section 7 (References) of the Application form must be completed by persons who know you for the last three (3) years.

    9. At least one of these References must be from the USA.
       

  6. Fee Structure

    Fees must be paid via money order made out to the 'Consulate General of Trinidad and Tobago'

  1. Other Helpful Hints
     
    1. Once the completed application is accepted it is sent to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago for further processing.  The new passport is generated there and sent to the Consulate General for delivery to the applicant.
