The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) of the University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine Campus are organizing an international conference on the theme Trinidad and Tobago at 50: a model nation? where answers to these and other questions shall be sought. Trinidad and Tobago Miss Universe and Trinidad and Tobago Miss World delegates receive Government support
The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar Prime Minister and the Hon. Winston Peters Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism yesterday presented the National Director for the Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe franchise, Ian Lee and Franchise Director for Miss Trinidad and Tobago World, Michael Ragoonanan with cheques representing the Government’s contribution to supporting the efforts of the respective delegates in the upcoming competitions.
The funds from the Sport and Culture Fund will be used by Ms. Lee Ann Forbes, Ms. Trinidad and Tobago World and Ms. Gabrielle Walcott, Ms. Trinidad and Tobago Universe to offset expenses for their respective trips. The Chairman of the board of Management for the Sport and Culture Fund Mr. Peter Kanhai was also present at the handing over ceremony which took place at the Office of the Prime Minister, St. Clair.
The young ladies will take part in the competitions shortly, Gabrielle Walcott has already left for Brazil where the Miss Universe competition will be held on the September 12th 2011 and Lee Ann Forbes will travel to London in November for the Miss World pageant which is to be held on the November 6th 2011. |
