| Limbo Record Holder, Shemika Charles, Visits Consul General |
|
Consul General , Mrs Rudrawatee Nan
Ramgoolam , received a courtesy call from Miss
Shemika Charles, an 18 year old Trinidadian who is
the female record holder for the lowest limbo in the
Guinness book of records. Shemika is the 2012
Guinness book record holder for the lowest limbo
dance at 8.5 inches. This is the first time the
Guinness Book has included female limbo dance as a
category.
Shemika, originally from Trinidad and Tobago,
comes from a family of performers and began
learning limbo at a young age under the tutelage of
Robert Diaz. Having performed at various venues
throughout New York, Shemika received
encouragement to attempt a world record. She is the
first female artiste to set a record for limbo dancing. It
is entirely fitting since Trinidad and Tobago is the
Land of Limbo! Shemika takes pride in her Trinidadian
and Tobagonian heritage and designed a red, black
and white costume to wear for performances. Read more >> |
