About the Consulate
The Consulate General of the Republic of Trinidad and
Tobago in New York was established in 1972 and has functioned
continuously since that year. Our offices are currently
located at 125 Maiden Lane (4th Floor), New York, New
York 10038.
The Consulate exercises consular jurisdiction in the
following states of the eastern seaboard of the United
States of America - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts,
New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode
Island and Vermont.
The primary role and function of this office is to provide consular services to nationals of Trinidad & Tobago resident in the areas of its jurisdiction, to provide services to visitors from Trinidad & Tobago to the Eastern United States of America as may be requested as well as to foreign nationals wishing official interlocution with Trinidad & Tobago.
The Consulate also liaises with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, other Government Departments, public and private sector institutions and entities and implements the policy initiatives of the Government of Trinidad & Tobago
The clientele of the Consulate covers a wide spectrum and includes not only nationals resident in its area of jurisdiction but also travelers from Trinidad and Tobago (particularly official travelers), foreign nationals seeking interaction with Trinidad & Tobago, American individuals and corporate entities as well as New York City, State and other officials.
The specific services range from immigration matters to legal services (notary public), provision of information about Trinidad & Tobago, repatriation of human remains, facilitation of the deportation of criminal deportees, representational functions, hosting of events marking significant national landmarks (e.g. Indian Arrival Day, Emancipation Day, Republic Day).
In addition, the Consulate promotes Trinidad & Tobago as the preferred destination for investment, seeks to increase exports of goods and services from Trinidad & Tobago to the USA, supports the operations of Trinidad & Tobago institutions in the jurisdiction, encourages and supports Trinidad and Tobago and regional performers, artists, artistes, musicians, dramatists and others in the area.
The office is headed by the Consul General, Dr. Harold Robertson who is supported by a team of home-based and locally recruited staff.
